I actually set up my Plurk account some time ago and just realized that I had not blogged about it.
Blog Prompts
1. Which social journal did you choose? Why?
I Chose Plurk because it was promoted as being good for beginners. I am certainly a beginner and Twitter seemed a little out of my league, or rather not exactly what I was ready to do.
2. What is unique about the online journaling experience?
It is very immediate. Real time. And at the same time deceptive. Are people really promoting themselves as they really are or are they making themselves into something completely fabricated. I guess the most unique thing about the online journaling experience is that there doesn't seem to be any checks and balances.
3. Can you see this having some application to school work or professional development?
If I was in school or working in an environment where it was to my personal advantage to promote my projects or images I could see this being a great source of free advertising.
4. What are some ways that these tools could be used for evil, instead of good?
As I mentioned earlier there doesn't seem to be any checks or balances in online promotion. It would be just too easy to promote yourself or others in a false light. And once it is out there it can be changed and morphed into anything someone wants it to be with the original source never being revealed or removed.
